A while back, I had a friend help me create a little tool for Instagram data analysis.
Honestly, at the time, I was just thinking "get it running first," so I pieced together a version using AI coding.
Does it work? Yeah, it works, and quite a few people have asked me for the tool or when it'll go live. But the issues are obvious: switch to a different dataset, and the logic falls apart – either it errors out or I have to rewrite the code.
The maintenance cost is pretty high, and more often than not, it feels like I'm "serving the tool" instead of using it to solve problems.
Lately, I've been searching for better ways, until I recently stumbled upon a tool that really caught my eye: Excelmatic. Today, I'm sharing it with everyone – it's seriously amazing!!

1. The Biggest Surprise: Nail Data Analysis in 5 Seconds, Plus Strategy Recommendations
In the past, to run a demo, I'd have to write scripts, tweak formats, and fiddle around for ages. Now, I just drop an Excel file into Excelmatic , no prompts needed – click analyze, and in seconds, it generates "charts + key insights."
Check out this video I ran on the spot. I fed it my old exported Instagram posts data, and it quickly produced a super comprehensive data analysis report...
Why do I think it's reliable? Anyone who's done data analysis knows that using large models directly can lead to statistical hallucinations. Running it with code is still the most dependable way, and Excelmatic's processing is all based on Python for data analysis.
Recently, a friend gave me some high-quality datasets, and I was wondering how to make the most of them. I immediately tested it with Excelmatic: upload → one sentence prompt to "provide strategy suggestions based on the data."
For example, it directly gave me operational strategy suggestions, from difference analysis to content opportunities... all the way to development strategies...
This experience is totally different from before: it's not just about "making pretty charts and calling it done," but guiding me to ask the right questions and dig deeper. For people who deal with complex data daily, this pace feels just right.
2. Super Unexpected: Task Planning Made Easy, Ready to Implement
Beyond data analysis, its performance in task planning also surprised me.
For instance, I wanted a low-cost DAU growth plan for a data analysis AI product. Before, I'd have to break it down step by step myself. Now, I just input the goal (budget ≤ X, achieve in two weeks), and it generates three different paths, complete with impact assessments and execution checklists.
My Prompt for the Requirement
Help me plan a low-cost DAU growth strategy for a data analysis AI product.
Constraints: Budget ≤ 100K, timeline 2 weeks, goal to increase active users by 20%.
Please output three different execution paths, and include:
- Core idea for each path
- Key execution steps
- Estimated costs and effectiveness evaluation
- A task checklist (including responsible roles and timelines)
Look at these solid multi-directional plans. As long as you clearly explain your needs, data, and available channels, the results it generates are truly inspiring! After reading, I picked Plan A, tweaked two steps based on my team's situation, and it was ready to go.
Plus, I love this product's thoughtful feature: it can export the result report directly as an Excel file, making sharing a breeze – no more copying and pasting, saving you the time for a coffee break.
3. Huge Relief: Writing PRDs Without Staring at a Blank Page – Just Edit and Use
Writing PRDs is similar.
I just input the goal, users, and scenarios, and it builds out the problem statement, user stories, feature list, acceptance criteria, and risks – even proactively researching market demands for context, saving me the market info gathering step.
My PRD Prompt
- Help me write a PRD.
- Goal: Create a "Love Letter Blind Box" mini-program.
- Users: Primarily young women who enjoy novelty and romantic vibes.
- Scenarios: Users enter the mini-program to randomly draw a celebrity love letter or generate a virtual rose.
- Please output in the following structure:
1. Problem Statement
2. User Stories
3. Feature List (Core and Extended Features)
4. Acceptance Criteria (At least 3 per core feature)
5. Potential Risks and Mitigations
Before, this kind of work often left me staring at a blank page in frustration. Now, it's more about "editing drafts" than "creating from scratch." Check out the result below – it's spot on, helping me make the requirements doc more solid from multiple angles.
4. Super Practical: Learning Research + Document Writing, Double the Efficiency
And while I'm at it, another unexpectedly useful feature: learning research.
Recently, I wanted to quickly get up to speed on a new field. I threw in a few keywords and asked for a "comparison table + summary + validation checklist." In under five minutes, I had materials ready for interviews and outlines. Before, searching and sifting info would take me at least half a day.
My Learning Research Prompt
I want to quickly learn about "AI Applications in E-Commerce."
Please create a learning research package:
- List core sub-directions (e.g., smart product selection, AI design, AI site building, etc.);
- Make a comparison table, contrasting the current status, advantages, and challenges of each direction;
- Output a summary, overviewing trends and opportunities in this field;
- Provide a validation checklist, telling me what key materials or data to check next for deeper research.
For writing proposals or reports, I just provide the theme and general direction, and it generates frameworks and drafts, with polishing included. This is way more efficient than typing word by word.
5. Why Excelmatic is Worth Trying?
At the end of the day, I think Excelmatic's value lies in handling those most time-consuming, repetitive, yet unavoidable tasks.
Data cleaning, plan organization, report drafting – these aren't hard, but they drain energy. It takes care of the grunt work, freeing me up to focus on higher-value judgments and decisions.
Before, handling data felt like mining coal; now, it's more like ordering takeout: just state your needs clearly, and it delivers the results.
Whether a tool is good or not, you'll know once you try it. If you have an endless Excel file on hand or an event to execute, why not give it a run first?
Save that time for yourself.
